Meeting with Patan Academy of Health Science

Meeting Patan Academy's dean

Everything is going very well from a planning perspective; yesterday I met the director of the Nepalese Family Planning Association to discuss their work around Nepal. It was a great insight into their health strategy, and they seem keen to support our project. Once we have completed the health needs assessment I will re-convene and discuss our findings.

Today we all visited Patan Academy of Health Sciences - where we plan to establish a Doctors For Nepal scholarship. We were welcomed by the dean and his team - and had an interesting tour of the medical school and hospital (Dad even managed not to faint in the clinical areas!). Unfortunately the students were on winter break - but I will be visiting again after the Kalikot trek.

So for now we sign off - as we are heading to Kalikot in the far west of Nepal on an early flight. We are currently in the last stages of working out vital rations, and how to squeeze our thermals into carry-able backpacks. Now for a last meal with beer that's not Dalh Bhat!

Keep watching for our safe return....Kate
